Welcome to Election Results

India holds the honor of one of the largest democracies of the world when the government is created “by the people, for the people and off the people”. Election 2009 saw a coverage electorate of size 714 million but still elections were held fairly and results of election were declared on time. It is the responsibility of Election Commission of India to hold successful and fair elections and declare election results at all levels. Elections are usually help in various phases across the country or even across the state. However a day is decided to calculate the casted votes and declare results of election. Earlier when ballots were cast in boxes it took more time to compute election results as first boxes were opened one by one and then votes were counted to declare electionresult. Now thanks to electronic voting machine it becomes extremely simple to get results of election as it takes lesser effort to calculate electionresults. The candidate getting the maximum number of votes in the results election is declared as the winner. The party getting maximum votes in the elections result is declared as the winner and is invited to form a government. If no party gets clear majority in electionresult then a coalition government is formed. Even the coalition government should get 50% of seats in the electionresults to successfully form the government.

Till now 15 results of election have been declared. First Lok Sabah elections results were declared in 1952 where Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru led his party to victory by getting 75.5% votes in electionresults. Congress party could repeat the success of 1952 electionresult in 1957 election results and even 1962 electionresult. It was in 1977 that the results election was not in favor of congress for the first time since India’s independence and Morarji Desai of Janta Party took over as the Prime Minister of India.

Elections result 2009 was again in the favor of Congress led UPA which at present have formed government in India. Therefore it is election results that seal the fate of any party in Indian democracy.
